A Word from Pastor Steve
Succession, Transition, and My Timeline
Church Family,
Several people have asked me about my timeline for transition. Looking back on the succession process takes us back almost two years. We first announced the need for a succession plan two years ago this May. Since then, I have been working with our Church Board and for the last year with the Slingshot Group for planning, training, and implementation of a plan. It has been a lengthy but valuable process. There have been some setbacks, but we have trusted God’s timing and being patient has proven to be valuable.
My desire and commitment to bring on a next generation Lead Pastor has not waned one bit. I still feel that this is the healthy thing to move our church forward into the future. God has great plans for us!
Transition Timeline
The plan has always been to have an overlap allowing the next Lead Pastor and I to serve together for a period of time. That is still my goal. Further, whether or not the church elects the next Lead Pastor on April 6, I will continue to serve LifeSpring for a season. My timeline is to live here and serve until June, then transition out, yet still be “on call” and engaged with the new pastor over the summer. Though relocating down the road in K.C. (with six of our grandkids), we will remain members for the time being and will return often.
Lead Pastor Candidate
Please read over the bio of Derrick Nichols. Prayerfully listen to him share his testimony and preach on Sunday, March 30. Come to the meet and greet time before the Sunday Q and A meeting at 5pm. Talk to him. Talk to the Search Team or Board. Then pray some more and let God guide your vote on April 6.
Our Sovereign God declares, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11
God’s got this!
